The 40.7 hectare [100 acres] was previously a sheep run, gifted to “Trust for Nature” and then on- sold to the Serpell family in 2004 The family is covenanted to improve the biodiversity and increase the quantity and quality of the vegetation and habitat. Through future generations or other future owners, this work will continue in perpetuity. In the past 20 years, approximately 2000 seedlings of understory shrubs and bushes and grasses have been planted and over 75 bird nesting boxes installed. The property has been blessed by hosting several Church picnics and welcoming volunteers from the Leighmoor, Moorabbin Parish [a five leaf eco award church]for annual planting days. Expected higher temperatures, reduced rainfall and climate change are all challenges which impact on us all. See website: trustfornature.org,au for further information Geoff Serpell
